The BEST Centre Academy will be based at the Best International Swim Centre in Colonia Sant Jordi Majorca, with the education delivered by Loughborough College.
The Academy will provide a dedicated sports environment, with opportunities for students to train, compete and see what it takes to be successful in sport. Students will study an “A” level equivalent qualification to allow progression onto University. The provision will provide and promote experiences of sport that are so positive that they are life shaping for people at all levels and in all forms of engagement.
Central to the BEST Centre Academy is the view that if you develop the person first, you are building the foundations for success not just in sport but for any future path. The Academy staff including all the teachers and coaches will support students to become well-rounded individuals with the qualifications, behaviours, skills and attitudes to prosper in the world of performance sport, in the world of work and in wider society. The underlying beliefs is that it is not what you win in sport that is important, but who you become from your sport. Through their education and sporting endeavours, students will begin to understand how to win, how to lose, how to share success and defeat with others, how to set goals, how to work as a team in pursuit of those goals, and above all, how to form positive relationships with those around them. The BEST Centre Academy will be a place of understanding and inclusion, where young people learn independence and resilience.
